Recipe: Turkey Meatloaf
Miss the taste, but not the fat of meatloaf? Try making it with ground turkey this week. This recipe is requires very little preparation time and is much lower in fat and calories than the average meatloaf dish. 1/6th of the recipe has about 220 calories and 6 grams of fat. Keep the fat count low by serving it with a baked, not mashed, potato.
1 ½ lbs extra-lean ground turkey
¾ cup dry, seasoned bread crumbs
1 tablespoon soy sauce
¼ cup chicken stock
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon parsley
1 egg
Salt and black pepper
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly beat the egg with a fork. Then combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Put the mixture in loaf pan and bake, uncovered, in the oven for abut 1 hour. Let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
