At 6'3", Rose is a matchup nightmare for opposing point guards. He's blessed with a combination of phenomenal strength, speed, and quickness. His first step is lethal, and whether it's a soft floater or a thunderous dunk, Rose has no problem scoring against the top defenders in the NBA. Derrick grew up in Chicago's South Side, and decided to play his college ball at the University of Memphis. In his only year as a Tiger he led the school to the NCAA Championship game and earned All-American Third Team honors for his play. Following his success at the college level, Rose was the first selection in the 2008 NBA Draft. His childhood dream became a reality when he was selected by his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls. After a stellar rookie campaign, Rose was named the 2008-2009 NBA Rookie of the Year. Derrick was rewarded for his dedication to the game of basketball by being named a 2010 NBA All-Star in only his 2nd year in the league.
